Directors calls
The director can control cameras by being on talkback, he can say to the camera op what he wants. Some things that a director would say to a camera op could be pan left or right, more headroom or tilt up and down. Also he can tell them about what shots he would like up next or whether the shot is a good shot or not. Also the director can speak to other crew lke FM, VX mixer or sound op.
DVD operations and inserts
Most of the video and audio clips were all of youtube. Once downloaded of youtube we would put into final cut pro and put a title for our round on the page before. Then we ended up with DVD of all the clips and sounds from everybodys rounds. To get the inserts on the live show is that you just put the DVD disc in the DVD player play went needed to.
set design
In pre production we thought about what theme we would use for the set, we ended up using a media theme with the different flat with different areas of the media. Once the theme was chose we made the set and ten had to think what sort of colours to use so they would look good on camera.
lighting in studio
Flood light- the lights are used to create normal light in the studio and its easier to record in the studio but its hard to control the light.
Spot light- Concentrated light and this is used to focus on something. The light is usually used to light the host or one of the talent.
Soft light- Normally added to fill light to something. You can control how much light you would light by opening or closing the barn doors on it.
Each light has its own socket on the lighting grid and each of them are numbered for the dimmerpack which provides power for the lights.

Rehearsals
Rehearsals were done to make sure that all the equipment was working and also give the crew a chance to get used to the equipment that they will be used during the live show. Also it can help that the real show will go through with no problems.
Floor plan
Floor plans are something that can help everyone in the crew have an idea of where everything and how its going to happen. It is just a diagram of the studio from a plan view. The people that you would give a floor plan to would be the director, floor manager, camera op +ass and sound op +ass.
studio equipment
Tally light- Is the small red light which is above the viewfinder on the camera which will indicate that the camera is live which will help the camera op operating the camera.
Floor monitor- This is a large TV screen which is linked up with to the live camera shots so all the studio crew can see what s happening.
Lighting panel- It is the equipment that will control the brightness going on to each light.
STOB box- This connects cameras and microphones through the vision mixing panel and the audio mixiing desk round to wall instead of having wires all over the rooms.
Camera Pedestal- Is a more complex tripod with wheels. Industry standard pedestal have an expensive steering system to make moving it smoother.
Curtain track- The curtain track is a metal rail which goes all the way round the studio in get a clear black background. And the black curtains stop unwanted light bouncing about.
Audio desk- Controls all levels of sound both on mic levels and line levels which can be mixed. Controlling the audio alouds to reduce unwanted background nosie.

Programme rundown
A programme rundown is made so everyone who is working on the programme knows the running order of the programme. In a programme rundown you put in the description for what is happening in it and also the description are all numbered in order. And you put the medium of it on the rundown for example studio or DVD and its a DVD who will be controlling it. You would also put in the duration of them.

Use of talkback
Talkback is used in live TV by all the camera ops having cams so they can here whats going on by the director and so the director can help the camera ops and telling them when the director is going to there shot. The director can also talk to the floor manger to make sure everything is ready in the studio with the crew and talent. Everyone who is on the VX and audio desk doesn't have to keep moving around. And the floor manger has a wireless talkback they can be moving all the time. Then director can always be in contact with everyone at the same time. If there are any problems in the studio the camera ops and floor manger don't have to leave their position to speak to the director.
My role in Pre Production
In our groups I was going to be the post production. For our round which was the film round I had to collect all the VTs like film clips, audio clips and images which were found on the internet. Then had to edit the clips down to what I wanted. Next I had to put all the VTs on to one disc with everyone elses VTs on it and then burn it. I also helped with making some ideas for the theme tune and titles. Helped with painting th set and lifting the flats about ready to use. Writing the scripts for our rounds questions.
VX and Audio inputs and outputs
In a vision mixer you can have as many inputs as you want like microphones, VIR, DVD and HDD. And you have one output out of the vision mixer. In a audio mixer there is always one output with inputs like MICs and CD player. Audio and vision mixers have many inputs but only one output. They have several controls for these.
VIdeo and Audio siginal path

The MIC is a analogue which the sound of it goes into the STOB box which is Studio Termination Outlet Box the output of the STOB is a weak signal which goes into the Audio mixer which is also a analogue. You can put other inputs into the audio mixer like a CD which has a strong signal. The output of the audio mixer is a line level and goes into the DN-300 HDD and that is digital signal and it is what recorders the video. MIC level is a weak level and line level is a strong level. The audio desk can take both levels. 12 MIC inputs is the max and four level line inputs. Analogue can handle signal louder than it should. Digital can’t handle any louder signal it can handle.
Lighting grid
In a lighting grid every light has its own number so can be individual changed on the lighting desk. Soft lights are used to fill and they have barn doors, small spot lights are hard light. The floodlight has no barn doors are used to light scenes and is hard the control. Black curtains are used to stop other light bouncing about.
